Traveling’s my passion because I love experiencing places I've never been and meeting people along the way. It’s the journey, not the destination.
I like shooting guns, camping and riding motorcycles. I also like antique hunting, watching sunrises, walking hand in hand along a deserted beach, star gazing, crying at movies and such.
I belong to the NRA, the American Legion, The Republican Party, Mensa and have been profiled in Who's Who. I keep up with current events and totally enjoy talking about what's going on in our world and getting another opinion as long as the conversation doesn't deteriorate into name-calling. It's never wrong to agree to disagree.
I enjoy intelligent conversation on any subject. If the only subject you can talk about is your kids or gossip about your friends and co-workers, you're not for me. There's a time and place to talk about family, friends and co-workers but not all the time.
I like watching a rain storm from under the patio and it's even better if there's thunder and lightning.
I like a cold beer or a good whiskey every now and then. Not often though.
There isn’t much that's more beautiful than a Texas sunset when the sky turns red and gold.
My thinning hair bothers me to no end. Getting old sucks.
I have strong religious beliefs but consider them private unless I'm asked. I respect everyone's religious choices but I don't want to be "converted" or thumped about the head and shoulders with your Schofield Bible because I don't believe exactly as you do.
I retired from the US Army in 2003. I spent the next 7 years appraising Real Estate. In September of 2010, injuries to my back that occurred while I was in the Army finally forced me to retire again.
Here's some full disclosure: I take medications to manage pain so I can have a "normal" life. So, don't expect me to climb a mountain or hike all day with you. There are other activities we can do.
I've been married more than once, never had children and I see a therapist to maintain my sanity. I've seen and done things that humans shouldn't have to see or do while I was in the Army so seeing a therapist seems appropriate.
I'm faithful and loyal: Maybe to a fault. I'll work on a relationship I value but I won't ever kiss butt to be with someone and I don't want anyone to kiss my butt either. I've never experienced "love at first sight" so I don't believe in it. The good relationships I’ve had took work and dedication to each other. They required compromises and effective communication. I've found that's it's just as important to cry together as it is to laugh together. Shared hardships that are overcome together create a bond that last a lifetime.
The last theatrical production I was in was way back in 1978 so I'm not keen on drama. Life happens. Things have to be dealt with. Everyone has things beyond their control happening in their life. But, if you're the type who takes on other people's problems and make them your own to the point that it's way beyond empathy, you’re a drama queen and should embrace it.
I enjoy the company of people who are confident in themselves and who are optimistic about life.
There are times I cuss. The people I've been around my entire life talked that way. My mother hates cussing so I try very hard not to cuss around her and other ladies. But sometimes it just slips out. Other than that, I'm a gentleman. I believe in opening doors and pulling out chairs as well as helping with coats and such. If you’re cold, I'll cover you with my jacket.
I smoke cigarettes and cigars. That's not who I am, it's something I do. If you're the type person who bases your relationships on anything other than character, you're a total dingfod and I don't want to know you.

A nice ride through the country stopping every now and then to talk so we get to know each other. Or maybe coffee at a quiet restaurant. It might be drinks and playing pool at a bar. There'a no ideal; every date is what it is depending on who I'm seeing.

I've done everything I've ever wanted to try already. So, maybe I'll meet someone with a few good ideas...

Doing whatever brings a smile to my face at the moment is what I enjoy most. I like to go to the gun range and shoot off some rounds on days when I can't ride and am off work. I love to get on my bike and just ride to anywhere meeting great people, playing pool and drinking beer at those little bars along the road and seeing the places that are hard to find. I enjoy hard work and the satisfaction of doing a good job at whatever I do.
